Our why

About us

Change the way we seek mental health support, for the better, forever.

knus was born from lived experience and a deep desire to help others. Seven years ago, our founder faced the darkest days of his life, battling a severe mental health breakdown and navigating the long road to recovery.

During that journey, especially through the isolation of the COVID pandemic, one thing became clear: peer support is powerful. What started as a personal mission to help just one person has since grown into a movement.

From creating accredited courses in overcoming anxiety to developing a peer support training scheme, our founder laid the foundation for knus on the principles of empathy, connection, and recovery.

What began with one volunteer has grown into a thriving network of over 800 volunteers. At knus, we believe that no one should go through mental health challenges alone, because sometimes the best support comes from someone who’s been there too.

To always be ‘by your side’ when you need mental health peer support.

Unlike traditional services, we connect our users with peer support workers who truly understand, because they’ve been there.

Every one of our peer supporters has lived experience of mental health challenges or similar journeys, offering not just support, but genuine empathy, understanding, and hope.

After joining, you’ll be paired with a dedicated Peer Support Coach who will walk alongside you. We’ll let you know how long you’ll be working together, so you know what to expect.
